Home Business Los Angeles-Disadvantages Of Owning A Home Based Internet Business

Are you contemplating the idea of starting your own home based internet business? While the benefits of owning your own home based internet business are impossible to ignore, to make a fully informed decision you must also consider the disadvantages. If you determine that the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages in your personal situation, then you should feel comfortable in proceeding with your new business venture. Here are some of the disadvantages of owning an internet business that you must consider before you decide to take the leap into business ownership

. 1. Your family may have a hard time adhering to the boundaries of your chosen working hours. Your two-year old does not understand that each interruption to show you his/her toy puts you further behind schedule. You may have to work during holidays or inconvenient times. Even though you do not have a boss calling you into work, your business will not run without you. If something needs attention on a holiday, you may have to tend to it or risk losing money

. 2. You must be self-motivated to get the work done because no one will be there to hold you accountable. You cannot call in sick and have someone cover for you. You are 100% responsible for the success of your internet business. In fact, you may initially have to work more than you are used to get your business up and running

. 3. You will need to have some initial capital to pay the bills. You will not have a consistent paycheck to look forward to every two weeks. If you are not good at budgeting or saving, you could run into serious financial trouble. While you can virtually write your own paycheck, it takes time for that paycheck to start coming in. Money will not starting rolling in right away. You will also need to address the issues of any insurance programs such as, health, dental and life that you will need

.4. You will need to have the proper home equipment and space to run your internet business. Some of the things you will need are a high-speed internet connection, a personal computer and any software required to run your business. If you are going to sell products online and cannot store them in your house, then you will need to consider warehouse space and security for your goods. You will also have to consider any additional expenses such as extra utility charges

. 5. You do not need to quit your day job but you will end up having to work essentially two jobs until your internet business starts bringing you income. You have to be willing to sacrifice some of your free time to work on your internet business and that may mean that you may be sacrificing some family time, extra sleep, and leisure activities if you plan to keep your day job.

6. You will be working alone and social interaction is non-existent as compared to traditional jobs. You will have to develop your own team and resources when you need help.

You cannot go to the Help Desk, Human Resources, or the Technical Support Department. In fact, all those duties will be yours. You will need to find mentors if you need help with something that you do not know how to do. Take these points into consideration as you are deciding whether a home based internet business is right for you. Make a pros and cons list to help you with this process.
